I’m a pretty big Raspberries fan, and so I finally decided to try Eric Carmen’s first solo album. I always assumed it would be a little rough, but I was pleasantly surprised. So much of it is kind of just Beach Boys worship.

Then there’s the famous All By Myself, which I don’t think anyone’s actually listened to it in full. It’s such a shame that the “single edit” out of context in movies and TV, has made it basically a punchline. It’s a bleak 7 minute epic. You can hear the genuine desperation in his voice. It’s like he’s trying to climb out of a pit. It deserves way more respect.

@op Arnaldo Baptista from Os Mutantes got a highly regarded solo album from this year
gonna check out in the coming weeks
also Rita Lee got her classic Fruto proibido, might have already mentioned

well Arnaldo Baptista left after Os Mutantes 1972 album so not sure how much itll sound like that
"Baptista left the band in 1973 due to disagreements with the other members of the band and the excessive use of LSD, of which he had been hospitalized for."
never had any idea which of the male vocals were his and which were Sergio Dias tbf, credits look about evenly shared between the 3 members. didnt know they were brothers i guess that explains vocal similarity
also didnt know Rita Lee and Arnaldo Baptista were married

yeah feel like at one point i must have read about them being brothers but forgot
they probably got lots more interesting lore not repeated as often in the anglo world (and Rita Lee solo too since she was such a huge star)

yup it's great
goddamn
one of their best songs for me
10cc's Original Soundtrack album is pretty great. Perfectly represents the state of pop music of that time with Progressive Pop leanings and just in general a strong performance on all fronts.
first of all this opus

the hit (Daft Punk sampled)

the grooves

beautiful closing ballad

goddamn
Probably my favorite Aerosmith song.

I was thinking the same thing before I even got halfway through it lol. Sounds like they were pretty inspired by Who's Next.
