I never asked for your crutch
Now don't ask for mine
Lennon;
Lennon;
probably all in jest. Paul hit back hard with Rocky Raccoon though
wonder if Dylan and Lennon stayed friends

I don't know but the whole You Gotta Serve Somebody thing wasn't long before Lennon got shot

Lennon seemed like a pretty easily offended guy, probably annoyed Dylan got all the love as a songwriter in the 60s. that "Serve Yourself" mocking was weak
at least its not as much of a snoozefest as the lauded Can't Seem to Make You Mine
your boy Steve knew

so is this worth reading? been meaning to ask if you other recs for books on the 60s/70s rock scene. also looking for some books on the kinks, stones and dylan
also been rereading this issue i got a while ago
has s***loads of archival interviews and s***. just ordered the editions they have for 65, 67, 68 and 69 too

your boy Steve knew

hes not quite my boy
perry/whitford are
but yeah you can directly hear yardbirds DNA in their sound more than most of the hard rock bands, i was actually thinking that the other week after i saw someone point it out. if you replaced Tyler with Relf a lot of it would just sound like a non-psychedelic 70s version of the yardbirds
this interviewer asking Donovan (who released a handful of inventive classics that year) if he agrees pop has reached a point of stagnation in 1966
f***in cheek on this guy. oblivious.

yeah i would say they were equally indebted to each other in the mid 60s and john could probably chill on the fact that he converted bob back to rock and roll

Well Dylan saw Buddy Holly in concert when he was a teenager and they made eye contact and he felt his destiny in that moment but then every time he put a band together some rich kid with more equipment and a car would come along and steal it so he said f*** it and became a solo folkie which was going pretty well until he heard I Want To Hold Your Hand on the radio and remembered the sheer electricity rock and roll can inject into your soul

cool story
but really...don't think the beatles had that big of impact as he did on Lennon. He was going to go electric anyway, at least eventually.
arguably dropped their two best tunes in 66
was waiting for someone to pull up with these
