Trying to move into nyc by end of summer from north jersey, specifically Manhattan but maybe Brooklyn as long as it’s not too deep because I don’t want to be too far from my girlfriend who has a busy schedule. I think even a studio at my budget ($1600) is very difficult so starting to come to the realization it may be best to look for a roommate situation

Anyway as someone who doesn’t have friends to look for apartments with and live together what are the best way to find roommates/a room? And does anyone have good/bad roommate experiences, feel free to share. Never lived with anyone except my parents before so I don’t know what to expect
