Tenet = worst
Nolan gets a pass cause even after non-stop exposition his spectacles can be hard to wrap your head around
fresh in my mind from the re-release but in terms of hollywood blockbusters, avatar has some goat first act exposition. the speed and nature in which it introduces you to the world, technology, characters, rules, mission etc is so organic and fun
he’s great at doing that kinda stuff in an efficient way, especially in his older work
in those early terminator movies, he pads out all the expository dialogue by placing it during & around the action set-pieces, so it never grinds the movie to a halt & just breezes by instead
Easily that scene in the multiverse of madness. That had to be the weakest and most lazy “here’s this character’s backstory” tool I think I’ve ever seen in my life

Tbh that is by far the best aspect of Avatar and what makes me actually interested in the sequels nice world building
I think The Big Short for the subject matter they had to work with did exposition in a unique way
Tenet felt like you were being led through a video game storyline rather than actually watching a movie. Idk if that makes sense
