I actually dont want current pharrel to do it ... Neptunes aint the same either... Maybe more of the new gen Disco/funk artist that arent mainstream but know how to bring the vibe. To me i honestly only can think of Korean Artists like Bronze or Slom who are doing it rn. Maybe if Thundercat and Flying Lotus getting into it with 9th Wonder and Terrence Martin maybe ? I am very surface lvl with that stuff unfortunatly.... I really want a lower bpm but dancable album. Like some Mint Condition, SWV with some old school destiny childs but clouded in disco and funk. Maybe Babyface or Rodney Jerkins can bring that vibe ? Timbaland is able tap into it too. Just naming names at this point

I feel you for sure, Pharrell really has to leave that huge donkey Kong 808 alone that he keeps using on all his recent stuff. Chad and P’s production work never was meant to have bass as the primary instrument… at all. That’s the glaring issue for them these days. Mostly all of their prime work hardly had baselines if any, and at most they’d just layer their kicks with a sub or acoustic as an accent. The jazz chords and synths were the shining component. That’s all gone these days.

But then again… Pharrell would surely give Beyoncé live instrument work like what GIRL had. She would go crazy on an album full of Gush type instrumentals.

Rich Harrison laced Beyoncé with the Deja Vu type sound it seems you’re describing. Neptunes did Green Light. Pharrell alone did Blow, etc. Thing is, she’s not going to work with these generic new beat makers for a solo album.
