    First thoughts:

    • Subjective quality aside, the fact that both Drake and Beyoncé dropped straight up house music within the same week is f***ing cool

    • I’m not feeling the lyrics at all, especially that weird ass working class cosplay verse lmao. I genuinely think she’d be better off with no verses or at least something more pared back like the bridge

    • That said, the hook is f***ing fun and is going to go off in clubs, which is obviously the intention. Her voice is great as always and it sits well with the instrumental, particularly the percussion

    • There are going to be a ton of Drake comparisons and many of them are going to be focused on the wrong things. For me, it’s really interesting how much both chose to specifically channel the deep house wave that’s been bubbling up and seems to be overtaking tech house slowly but surely. They both came at it from different angles though: Drake went with lo-fi, vibey deep house somewhere between Keinemusik and Fred again… while Beyoncé is going straight back to the 90s on her Ralphi Rosario and Cajmere
