It's a flop in that he didn't get #1 despite his efforts. In reality it is not a flop, and chances are it will probably stay in the top 3 for a few weeks. Possibly longer than The Box. But that will all depend on how Roddy's team/label markets it.

Pop songs don’t always go #1. Sometimes the hover in the 10s-20s but stay on the chart for damn near 50 weeks. It’s a different game.
That's why he shouldn't have made a big deal about Debutting #1.
He could have gone 4->2->1 and no one would be able to say anything.
