whate even funnier is kendrick being higher than him
i understand why your name is Dedication
Big & Pac can’t be top 3 for the simple fact that their careers was cut prematurely
so not mad at their placement really
I mean they definitely can be they were the top 2 before niggas were born

time goes on & things change, they can’t be top 2 forever. they weren’t even able to see their primes through & through

I dont wholly disagree with the point you’re making but not a whole lot has changed in terms of them being 2 of the most important figures of all time in the genre, if someone has one of them top 1-2 it’s absolutely valid
Kanye West
Ye
Yeezy
Omari
KanYeezy
Yeezus
Pablo
Louis Vuitton Don
Evel Kanyevel
K-Rock
Real Top 10.

yeah the respect is damn near necessary wholeheartedly for them but it’s becoming harder to keep them at the same stature objectively as time goes on when there’s artist like Hov who’s 12+ projects deep or artist like Kendrick who’s steadily building a damn near flawless discography or Drake who’s dropping hit after hit for years
when there’s artist that are great & still able to achieve greatness throughout their careers we have to be open to the idea that they can occupy the top spots too
Death & their legacy immortalizes them but it shouldn’t make them untouchable
I think 2pac would really be my number 1
Impact, legacy, popularity, maybe the goat rap album, social consciousness, gangsta, style, swag, so many great songs, amazing storyteller.... just so many categories he delivers on
Hip hop always had that social conscience there.... Jay Z never has represented it, he can't be number 1 for that reason!

Thing is all 3 of those guys would get destroyed by both BIG and Pac in a versuz and neither has an album as good as Pac or BIGs best. Hell BIG has more iconic songs than Jay has and he only was around for 4-5 years lol Pac has songs on his post death albums better than anything released by any of those guys too lol those two guys will always be untouchable, top 2 or 3. Dropping a bunch of mid albums doesn't help Jay or Drakes case lol

For me it’s about the longevity of greatness more so than anything else
I mean a verzuz (as entertains as they are) shouldn’t determine the rank of someone’s whole career especially if they’ve had a full one
Yes Pac & Big have timeless hits & classics but only artist that is truly untouchable even after death is MJ

I’d say I mostly agree w this I suppose, but this is different than saying they “can’t be top 3”, i also feel like these attempts at hardline rankings w something as subjective as music are useless (outside of preferential rankings) but I guess it can be fun

Kendrick, Hov, Drake have all earned spots in the top 10 discussion and arguments can be made for all of them to be over Pac and Big.
However, Kendrick's discography is far from flawless. I would agree if you only counted GKMC and TPAB.
I agree that Pac and Big death shouldn't make them untouchable. People who have them as default 1 and 2 have always been people who arn't big fans of hiphop as a whole.
