surprising this band stuck it out. Feel like any other band would be dead but they're #builtdifferent

    What happened to them?

I'd seen so much about this For The Cold Country single. The lyrics are good, like it would read nicely as poetry........in song form? I'm not thrilled. Happy Birthday sounded better as a song.

Nancy Tries to Take the Night is another okay one

I can hardly tell when these tracks start and stop

I'm not digging these vocalists very much either, ahhhhh

    Glad I’m not alone man I haven’t really f***ed with their s*** since…

Like I said earlier today the music is just kinda bland now. I think his voice gave them that flavor.

Bro prob poured his heart out into that album and said “I can’t perform these songs or make anything better ever again” but idk

  • Apr 4, 2025

Feels like their music is missing some kind of edge now. It just sounds like singer songwriter music, really feels like I’m just listening to some play

I think there are a few very good songs on here. I much prefer when May or Georgia are the lead vocalists on songs. The singles took a while to grow on me initially so I'll let this project marinate for a while, but I think it's a solid effort.

i don't think so. i like the girls as vocalists. i don't think the band, that they're top form here, but i also understand they had to reformulate themselves post-Issac. that said he wasn't the whole band, & he didn't dictate their entire sound. they're trying something new here & i appreciate the effort. I like this a lot better than the Bush Hall stuff, which, they admitted was made a few weeks before what would have been the Ants tour.

one thing people have to accept is BCNR is a different band than they were when Isaac was in it.

that being said, i actually like the direction they are going with this one. it's not as chaotic or intricate as the first 2 albums, but this one is more beautiful i think. a lot of great flourishes all throughout the album.

i agree tracks 2-4 are the most boring ones, but i see it as a kinda calm before the storm type thing. the rest of the album is completely bangers imo.

I am definitely more in line with your thinking than some of the other posters.

I highly enjoyed this and am looking forward to spinning it a lot this year.

Different strokes for different folks and all that

Kinda wild that I’d already heard 8/11 tracks off of this between the singles and the two times I’ve seen them live

That's wild. I think Turbines is the best song they've made so far too.

you ain’t lying about tracks 2-4. by far their most tedious and pompous material imo…shit just goes and goes without any direction
