toosie slide was a rly good song
super melancholy vibe despite bein dancy
def one of the songs i think ppl think bout when they think last year
has a cool synth kinda tone basically droning on the entire song
was def destined to be a product of the times cus tiktok, lockdown etc etc but still good. def the 2020 Cupid Shuffle if the cupid shuffle were kinda odd and solemn
DLDT as a whole great too
is it better than CLB tho
Had a lifespan of about two weeks. I should’ve known then Drake wasn’t trying on CLB
Interesting take but I found the tone/intent kinda incoherent sorta like this whole era from him
it’s far better than the worst songs on CLB
man said 2020 Cupid Shuffle
I really like to think drake has this much meta self awareness still but lately I dunno

Song was solid but didn’t seem to last long to me but that joint got over 100m on YouTube lmao

He should’ve had Lil Baby on that

i dont think it was goin for anything too deep w its intent
at least that's how i see it. seems super surface

Ahh yes, another phoned in monotone Baby verse

But your take is that its fairly nuanced given that he’d be subverting the tik-tok bait of the content with the unsettling ominous drone to the music as a encapsulation on the feeling of mid 2020
I just really dk if he thinks about the music in that kind of way but it’s nice to think he does cus I found most his choices kinda confounding these days
I remember ktt praying it would flop and that s*** went double platinum in 2 months then ended up being one of the biggest songs on tiktok behind WAP and scored Drake his 7th #1 hit.
It was a nice covid song but Drake gets held to the highest standard you would think it was supposed to cure world hunger
Edit- his 8th #1 record so more impressive

na the kids love that ominous s*** these days idk wtf's wrong with them
i dont think he was tryn to subvert tiktok trends at all he basically said aite my turn
the drone is just a cool element of the song to me

Oh I read too much into your reading lol my b
it's definitely a neat time capsule. i get a similar feeling from the box too, even though it doesn't have anything to do with the pandemic it still gives me a really foreboding vibe like some really bad s*** is about to happen. of course that's easy to say in hindsight, but idk, if you asked me what song best encapsulated the feeling of the buildup to the pandemic that would be it.
