You can’t consider yourself real until you heard this:
The cover is from first parliament record ‘osmium’ but you needed to buy first thangs first compilation (Which came out years later ) If you want this song.
This lp was Funkadelic in their temps on acid with Marshall amps period. This was before parliament could afford horns. But here you hear the whole gang & what a song, fam. 😎
Also there is talented white artist and she contributed to this lp- sessions as well with a song that has Scottish bagpipes as the lead instrument for some reason. 😳
You hear that Hammond b3 & those vocal harmonies with the bagpipes? magic. 😎
Silent boatman is one of those mystical moments where parliament wascovering a song written by this woman ‘Ruth Copeland’ they were recording with on the same label. She contributes to a whopping 5 song’s for songwriting.
I think she was the first white artist to collaborate with Eddie Hazel- Tal Ross - Bernie worrell. Which gives you an idea how ahead of the curve invictus was as a label.
If you wish to buy it:

Or you can stream it on YouTube & I believe streaming sites.
She actually did 2 solo lp’s with the funkadelic session musicians. Pioneering & way ahead of her time 😳
The label was founded none other than motown’s most devastating songwriting team: Holland Dozier Holland. 😨 they formed Invictus because they weren’t being paid properly for royalties by Motown.
There again is the Motown connection with George being covered for “I bet you” for Jackson 5.
the origin of humpty dance
junie is sampled vocally as well saying ooooooohhhh do meeeee baby
and this drum break :
add some handclaps & voila party du anthem until the end of time 🥳
another one
ray davis on the intro who would later join the temptations for one off lp in the 90’s rip ray the melvin franklin of the mothership
this time junie bootsy & george collab writing ✍️ . gary singing a verse 😎
hard to believe charlie bernie bootsy mudbone 😊😊& george recorded this in the 90s
it’s like such a random collab but one of the greatest collabs of all time in pfunk history😳😳😳
this is what i mean by their music being untouchable . this vocal arrangement with that bassline & guitar line with those synths 😭😭😭
it makes you wonder if aliens did visit george & enhance his ears to put this together in one room with all these geniuses of music. 😳
