Everyone is raving about this game. I only read the wikipedia of the novel that the game is based off of. Is it essential to read the novel before the game? I like a good story and I don't want to ruin the experience by not knowing anything
Treat it like the Greek mythology, yeah the source is from a novel but where it become famous is through creations of medias and other renditions based on the story. People in China is very familiar with the story but not really many have read the og material itself
If you want to delve more into the story I recommend the Stephen Chow's films (Chinese Odyssey 1 & 2). Had its own spin in adapting the source material but widely enjoyed. For a more faithful version the D***y Cheung's tvb series
YASSSSSSSSSS I COMPLETED IT
that last fight was a f***ing joke lmao, enjoyed it but he had my pants down
incredible game, honestly had a blast with this, going to go back and kill some bosses I missed
so excited for what else the Chinese have to offer, they hit it straight out the park with this
This is like a fast-paced linear Souls-like boss rush so far. I’m at the Black Bear boss.
for some reason i cannot beat the whiteclad noble lol idk why

This Elder Jinchi fight kicking my ass
that one’s lowkey easy, if you kill the zombies it replenishes your health

you can even do an entire build where all that stuff gets cancelled out and you just do massive physical damage. it’s called spellbinder. helpful against certain bosses.
and the fact that you can infinitely and freely respec all points at every rest
Chapter 3 is so massive
Honestly didn’t think they’d go bigger than chapter 2 but yea I’m impressed
How y'all beating the game so quick, damn between work and other s*** I be crawling like y'all in school or summ 😂
How are the bosses compared to FromSoft bosses?
And
How are the bosses compared to souls like game bosses not by From?
Haven’t seen anything yet besides the early gameplay footage and trailers, didn’t even realize this was out yet and won’t be able to play for a long while bc no PS5
