I saw the other posters thread about the black cover. I have a different theory. I believe it represents the void that came as a result of kanyes new consciousness.

    Nothing. The absence of something...

When you pursue spiritual enlightenment as kanye has, there is a "void" that is discovered according to Hinduism and similar beliefs.

Wow... that's an incredibly deep metaphor ... his cover represents the testes which are the giver of life itself... containing the sacred seed

Edit- i know I'm an expert level troll guys but I'm not letting this one slip under the radar with yall thinking I was being serious. No sir 😂

    Good idea.

I'd also like to say that for all those critics and reviews that mention that the album is incoherent in its message and narrative, that I haven't seen one mention how the album cover also "doesn't fit" the idea of an album about his Mom. I think folks need to start there and consider what this album is really about and the oblique ways it goes about its journey.

Yea this album took the TLOP approach and the songs were made all at different times... can't really expect it to be FULLY cohesive topic wise or narrative wise

Yeah, not FULLY. But there's still multiple repeating trains of thought that people aren't acknowledging because they're so focused on the title: DONDA. But like any great artist, Kanye went about it in unexpected ways that aren't immediately apparent.

There are a lot of lyrics on the album about trying to make it through the night, which finally happens on Come To Life when Kanye breaks free.

I think the black cover is meant to represent that "night," the burden of trauma and past sins on Kanye until he makes himself new again and actualizes a new self
