Wish all three guys could've just worked on it together in the same room start to finish. Seems like Yasiin in particular isn't interested in doing that anymore

when i realized that some of these beats were old i was kinda bummed man, makes it feel more like a mixtape than a really fleshed out madlib collab

Madlib doesn’t do that with any of his albums though

He hates working with people, he wants to give beats and then hear a finished product and then help put it together

    It’s not easily accessible

Comes with that territory plus it off rip doesn’t have the same impact of the first

I enjoyed the album but I agree with your point lol with most people listening on streaming now and days to not have it be available on any platforms other than Luminary is just ridiculous so it makes sense it isn't being talked about on a larger scale...same with Mount Westmore which a lot of people forgot was even dropping because they chose to do that NFT bullshit...shit Westmore didn't even leak because I doubt anyone gave a f*** enough to buy it as an NFT

The story on this was, Madlib worked upstairs and DOOM worked downstairs at the bomb shelter.

Those photos were probably the only time they were together. They didn't really "work" together like that. I'll find the tweets from Walasia who A&R'd the album.

There’s some really good moments on Dec 99th but it’s definitely low effort and on spot writing clearly. kinda like a jam session. Very low stakes, but Spesh is a great singy Bey song imo.

I wish Negus was more accessible though. It’s definitely a quirky album too but I enjoyed it. Need more listens tho! Very industrial and dark. But there’s more poignant writing with certain themes he hones in on. Lol. Smh.

You listen to Negus at the museum or did it leak yet?

Does anyone happen to know which Madlib beat is used on this Black Star snippet, or is this the only place he used it?

They recorded in the same house, but madlib would cook up beats in the basement while MF Doom wrote and recorded upstairs, they had very little contact during the album process and almost barely spoke except for short breaks

And this was 2002, 2003. No one was emailing tracks back and forth then. He was handing out CDs, but I think he still got in the lab with them.

You right lol. It's been a while since I read the interview. DOOM only came out to drink beer then he went back to do his thing.

Money Folder leaked in 01-02. It was on the Bomb the System Soundtrack. Which was basically the instrumental version of Fantastic Damage.
