Anyone else do this. My job doesn't respect boundaries so I've let it be known when im off the clock I dont answer calls especially since I have s***ty management that treat me bad. Im going to block everyone's number when I go on vacation since Im usually in high demand. Im the a***yst for the team. If they want me to be more available they gonna have to make me salary . At hourly im not on call.

we have a messaging / social media app (developed by facebook so looks and acts exactly like facebook but just for the job)

so the messenger app for it sometimes starts popping off after hours / weekends

i have it set to mute notifs after 5 and on weekends f*** that s*** lol

hourly? hell f***in nah do not answer s***

you're doing it right, as long as you have set expectations you should feel no guilt in disconnecting

I got scolded once for not answering a call outside of work...

my grandpa reminisces about the days when he didn't have a phone

he tells me that he used to be able to go fishing for an entire day with no worries

it makes me think about how we are tethered to these devices. we are forced to be constantly available

i've had middle managers that didn't understand boundaries like this and i just told them to f*** off which worked as long as you're an asset

usually it's their first manager role and they are control freak workaholics

Don't block your boss just let them know you won't be answering any work related messages until after you are back from your vacation
