just watched it goddamn that was a dry snoozefest
couldn't take the film seriously at all, and I just finished Twin Peaks & loved it
Lynch seemed to poke fun at soapy stuff in Twin Peaks but this was straight soap and underwhelming at that
Hated it at first tbh. Now I really enjoy it. It’s a second/third time around film but I still consider it bottom three of his filmography
Trash take. S*** taste, there is still time to delete
I don’t see how it’s possible to find the back half boring. It’s so weird by those time’s standards

OP clearly can’t relate
I respect your opinion but honestly am pretty confused at you generalizing the entire thing as soapy. there are obviously those elements present (with intention). I’m curious about your overall interpretation of the film past a couple throwaway lines that seem like you’ve stated them moreso to provoke a reaction/conversation rather than actually expressing your full thoughts on it.

Well the dialogue felt like if somebody had Lynch at gunpoint and said "don't make it too weird buddy"; it felt curt and rushed
the protagonist is a bumbling p****
the actors didn't convey nearly the emotional range of anyone on Twin Peaks

it's clear which feels so much more authentic
like the film just felt empty
I don’t really like Lynch but Blue Velvet is truly one of the greatest (if not the greatest) coming of age films of all time.

The themes going right over his head
Second half is an absolute trip, can't imagine not finding that s*** entertaining
I don't even know what to say to the ENTIRE film being categorized as soapy

But he's our p****. Right, kids?
You ever been to p**** heaven?
Franks whole character is wild. Walking talking (homoerotic) id
