Tomorrow's Harvest was a barren, cold world, destroyed through climate catastrophe, with few survivors left

Inferno looks like the process of that destruction, the death of the world through overheating, people turning to religion and magical thinking to find solace in the face of the unavoidable psychosis-inducing reality of total environmental collapse

this must be in reference of a Sean Booth (1/2 of Autechre) interview from a couple years ago, where he got asked when is BOC dropping and he said “They’re probably in the future somewhere worrying about why it isn’t like the past”

• Inferno retains their signature melodies and atmospheres, drawing on the esoteric influences explored in Societas X Tape (their 2019 NTS mix for Warp Records’ 30th anniversary) and the darker ambience introduced on Tomorrow’s Harvest, further deepened by an expanded role for speech soundbites.

• An extension of the dark, cultish energy that permeated Tomorrow's Harvest, Inferno spans sensual machine funk, Southern Gothic, demonic, ritualistic music à la Coil, and the kind of subtly emotional ambience that's become Boards of Canada's calling card.
