Did you love Bob as a kid/teen or was there a click/lightbulb that happened along the way?

Nah never heard him as a kid, barely knew who he was till late night school. Was raised on Neil Young tho which probably helped prime for Bob.
My first album was Highway 61 and Blonde which were mostly too advanced and old school for where I was at. Restarted chronological marination instead (same as I did with with Stones, Beach Boys and Beatles) and let early stuff like Masters Of War, Hard Rain, Hattie Carroll and especially I Don't Believe You work their way into my brain. By the time I got to Bringing It I was a stan.
Watched Don't Look Back and No Direction Home all the time. Went and saw him a bunch. Loved all his new albums. Basement Tapes easily my desert island disc. The goat.
I guess its time for me to move on to STC
"When asked "What, if push comes to shove, is your all-time favourite album?" Nick Cave replied: "I guess it's Slow Train Coming by Bob Dylan. That's a great record, full of mean-spirited spirituality. It's a genuinely nasty record, certainly the nastiest 'Christian' album I've ever come across."
just watched the movie last night. need someone to put me onto his essential albums/singles

I think his best album is Blonde on Blonde however most of the mixes sound odd, probably best to stick to the mono for the time being
after that, Highway 61 Revisited (ballad of a thin man is where it all clicked for me) and Freewheelin are essential 10s, for starters. Not to forget Bringin it all Back Home which has some of his best written tracks
as far as mentioning tracks go? there's just so many I could list, best take this medicine in album form and discovering the eras; folk, rock, post bike crash, heartbreak, country..
so far my favorite album of his is desire
i like how it sounds. one more cup of coffee is a vibe.

I feel like Slow Train Coming is so underrated in his discography

My first Dylan album. Borrowed it from my friends mom on vinyl and I’d play it over and over geeked on weed and get scared at the What Ifs

My first Dylan album!
thank you sir!!!
It's best to go through Bob chronological to appreciate his progression. Also he was so productive that a ton of his best songs didn't make it on to albums;

Nick Cave's favorite album of all time
That's Basement Tapes for me though
I can't for the life of me get 'License To Kill' out of my mind.
oh ive been there harrrrrrrddd

Don’t let other peoples opinions fog what your heart says.
Nashville Skyline is an I’m in Love! album. Highway 61 is a This Day Can Go to Hell album. Time Out of Mind is an I’m Thinking About Mortality album. I’m oversimplifying (and I could go on and on), but you get the idea. One of the many beauties of Dylan is the multitudes—there’s almost always something that’s the right thing to listen to at any given time. Some I haven’t found yet, but I suspect I will.
I find it midly amusing that timeothee has likely introduced Kylie Jenner to some of the deepest cuts of the Dylan discography.
