Just watched a video on the jacksonville gang war going on
And its deeper than niggas killing eacother its almost like a curse has been placed on us bro like these niggas are family killing each other im talking 50 round draco drillings in broad day lighting s*** up to then go and rap about it in hopes to profit from their pain and make it out. But the weird thing is as they get success the more they still go and harm eachother. Dont even get me started on the opiod crisis and how the rap image has ruined so many niggas lives from xans in middle school to lean to just f***ery. A lot of us grow out of it and simply just listen but some dont and theyre f***ed. And that’s just casuals. For the young niggas in the hood rap star trap star imagery is all they know. These niggas are finished befote they even get started. Not just saying rap is the major reason for this but it definitely is a catalyst especially when the almost conjoined overlap between rap music and black american life.

Btw this is the video, you cant help but think these kids have had curses placed on them from birth destined to cause destruction and die young in talking 14,15.

My dad played 90's rap around me when I was a kid and I turned out perfectly fine, even growing up in an urban city.

There's a lot of negative rap out there for sure but it's just a scapegoat. Dysfunctional families, d****, and poor education plays a much bigger role than rap. Trust me.

So can you explain the spike in these issues post the end of the civil rights movement?

    These issues being:

    D*** use
    Single parent households
    Wealth gap
    Education gap
    Crime

They all predate hip hop/rap music

music is literally a sign of the times, just because negative aspects are discussed doesn’t mean it’s a widespread glorification, just people telling their stories

Music is probably the most easily accessible source of media i dont think these are the same. Music is literally conversation being told over an instrumental. It has way more power than the other mediums

Exactly. Gangsters in LA and Chicago were listening to James Brown, Parliament, and the Isley Bros when they were killing and doing drive bys in the 70's/early 80's.

AAAAAAND then niggas started rapping about selling to fiends and now guess what every kid in an impoverished environment wants to be? They find a older nigga which puts them on a block and just like that boom. Some grown out of it but others dont and the cycle continues. This is the dumbest easiest example i could give.

It’s much different with regards to impoverished black communities and rap music. Those kids aren’t gonna look up to Franklin from GTA5 because they understand that it’s just a character. However, those kids might look up to Lil Durk because that’s who other niggas in their hood look up to.

It is widespread glorification lets stop playing ourselves

70% of rap niggas got no business rapping about violence and street life but they do it. Why?

This type of behavior gets rewarded by the industry and social media

    Easy buckets
