I’ll believe it when they start shooting
Hollywood notoriously doesn’t keep its word all the time
You gotta be a Marvel hitman.
Dope signal to studios that Dune is doing well. Hopefully it means we get more sci-fi films on a similar level/that aim for that
It’s not doing well though
It’s going to lose money
They stopped reporting daily numbers at box office

What studio delivers daily numbers?
Its grossed 293m at global box office thats great

WB hasn’t been reporting weekday numbers this entire pandemic

Every studio but WB lmao

It needs another $100M to make its money back which it won’t get

Im sure WB know how much people it brought to HBO to calculate that its a success and green light a sequel
Every studio but WB lmao
Never knew that they did it daily i thought it was weekly ngl.
Case in point tho that Dune isnt the only one
its probably gonna go out wiht 350mil at the end of its run which is pretty great for a dual release
Im sure WB know how much people it brought to HBO to calculate that its a success and green light a sequel
Haters so focused on how much money dune will make lol
Im sure WB know how much people it brought to HBO to calculate that its a success and green light a sequel
Yes but they were hesitant with green lighting a sequel especially since I’m assuming this one will cost more to make
I don’t really care about HBO max numbers though I look at box office and judge it that way. Will the film make its money back or profit in box office? Nope
HBO is cool for revenue stream for them but I hate the idea of a studio or company having you locked in a subscription anyway and streaming sucks. I want a dope theater experience and great movies that are successful at box office and spawn sequels not movies that just get HBO subscriptions that moves people away from the theater model
Plus I care about movies I like doing well not how many people are subscribed to HBO lol

I hate that they put the movie on HBO Max too but if it wasn't a dual release it would've made a lot more money, that's what I'm trying to say.
Considering this was on torrents in 4k a day before theater release,300mil(so far) is a great number.
BAN OP. Title name is a hit piece on Dune. Unbelievable.
That’s the biggest headline of the week
Its either that or talk about Last Night in Soho underperforming

It was already out for a month in other countries though by the rip the only huge places it hadn’t opened were US and China (lol)
It was echoed a million times that you must see this in IMAX/big screen and ppl listened. Over 50% of ticket sales were premium formats (at least domestically) and every person who saw the movie in IMAX says you have to see it that way
Plus so many people have HBO max already and wouldn’t need the rip cuz it dropped in a day
Saying it’s numbers are great is legit lying Bc they aren’t
Suicide squad had much higher HBO Max household viewer levels ($26M domestic opening meaning ppl did go to theater too)
Halloween Kills with terrible reviews from critics and general audience opened $10M higher at the box office with a dual release
I legit like the movie a lot but the narrative it’s doing great isn’t true

What did suicide squad do on hbo for the first week?
What did suicide squad do on hbo for the first week?
Suicide squad - 2.8M households
Dune - 1.9M households
Suicide squad - 2.8M households
Dune - 1.9M households
That’s trash. It’s sad cause dune is way better.

So you are saying that it was on HBO Max had an effect on the numbers, which I am saying too lol.
This isn't a narrative.
You are comparing 2 franchise movies with a book adaptation that doesn't have half the fanbase of those two.
Halloween Kills had a better opening in the US only and still can't sniff the global box office and lets not even talk about suicide squad lol.
If you can't see the success of Dune thats just your personal bias talking I'm sorry

SS squad flopped box office overall and Halloween Kills didnt do all that too after its first week. Those numbers you tried to beef up for SS were wayyy under WB and media expectations whereas Dune is on par pretty much
In the end 350-400M is pretty good for this film. i'm not understanding the push back at all
That’s trash. It’s sad cause dune is way better.
i will say suicide squad is a easier watch at home
i loved dune but not sure if i would've loved it AS much if my first watch was on my couch
That’s trash. It’s sad cause dune is way better.
how much is that HBO Max difference really when wayyyy more people supported the movie in person tho
Dune without U.S already did more the SS's entire run worldwide. And in 2 weeks it did more then SS's entire domestic run
HBO Max didn't make up that pretty massive difference

thats why "it being a success is a narrative" is so funny.
Its literally on par with WB's estimates

People just wanna see Denis fail. They spend all day in the dune spoiler thread talking about what they didn’t like in the movie.
