celebrity boxing has been a thing since the early 2000's, or even earlier if you count muhammad ali's exhibition fights with a f***ing pro wrestler/mma fighter, nfl player and nhl player in the 70's and 80's. boxing is a relatively easy skill to teach to a beginner and you don't need years of training to understand two people punching each other, which makes it perfect for setting up an event where two already famous people fight
