No one in my theater thought it was funny

It was okay imo. Seemed weird how the police handled crimes for tourists.
Especially for these repeat offenders. There was a question asked in the movie that I think could have been explored a bit more.

I liked how pathetic they made the main character (and how Skarsgard acts him) and they thought of a good metaphor to express his self loathing, but then… it feels like they didn’t get any further than that…

One of those movies where it feels like the writer came up with some interesting themes he wanted to explore (that, I’d probably imagine, feel personal and introspective for the heir Cronenberg) and contrived everything to fit that, except… it doesn’t.
Ultimately not that interesting.


I also am not a fan of Brandon’s visual style so far. It feels cheap and tacky to me. 🤷‍♂️

nah a nc17 version screened at sundance then they edited it slightly to make it R for theaters. the one they just put on VOD is the same R version

Ah gotchu. Saw someone itt say they altered some psychedelic scene. Edgy Fly loves his psychedelic visual moments in cinema so i'm hesitant on watching the R-rated version even though i'm hype

apparently it’s the same length just different parts of 3 or 4 scenes replaced with different shots.

“Well, I wouldn’t say we shot a lot of stuff that isn’t in it. A surprising amount of stuff got through, to be honest,” he explained. “It’s not a fundamentally different film. There are a few changes. There’s a few interesting shots that are in the R version that are not in the unrated version. I wouldn’t say it’s as dramatically different as you might expect. I supervised both cuts.”

I doubt it tbh. A lot of Sundance films in the past have been altered before and only the new alteration releases.

They tried to do it with “Pleasure” (a p*** movie) but they fought to have the official release be exactly how it was shown at Sundance
