Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if they're outdoors and wearing masks, they're still close in proximity with each other. You think these people are just keeping their mouths shut? No, they're chanting and cheering, which means droplets and particles from their mouths are still spreading all over the people around them.

Wearing a mask and being outdoors, thinking they're better than Trump supporters, doesn't make them or the people around them immune to the virus.

The comparison to Trump's rallies is meaningless because we all know Trump and his supporters are the worst when it comes to the pandemic. We shouldn't set the bar that low.

My point is that the same people were pretending to care so much about the pandemic, blaming Trump for everything, when it's obvious they're just hypocritical.

Trump's the absolute worst when it comes to COVID-19. We all know that, but we shouldn't stoop down to that level or set the bar so low.

If we keep at it, this pandemic will never end. I hope Biden actually takes action about this.

This isn't about either side. Americans in generally have shown how stupid they are in response to the pandemic. It's obvious Trump and his supporters are the worst, but that doesn't give others the excuse to engage in the same behavior while wearing a mask and thinking that somehow makes them immune and those around them immune.

Yup. They're acting like the particles/droplets don't come out through the sides of the mask. A lot of masks have so much space that air can get through, which means you're surely spreading stuff to the people around you if you're chanting and cheering.

Masks are helpful, but you can't jus wear it thinking you and those around you are 100% safe. Wear it AND also keep a safe distance.

They really giving ammo to the narrative that COVID won't be an issue anymore after Biden wins the election, basically saying the media and the Democrats were just using COVID to attack Trump.

Exactly what I'm saying. They're making themselves look like hypocrites using the COVID-19 narrative to attack Trump, but not really caring about the pandemic.

This isn't about left vs. right. This isn't about the people stupid enough to make stupid decisions. If they catch it, it's on them. It's about protecting our loved ones, our friends, and our families from catching it from one of these people.

I'm getting a lot of "Let them do whatever they want because they'll suffer the consequences" responses, but this is really not just about them. It's about the rest of us and our families who WILL be affected because that's how contagion works.

im simply observing what’s happening in real life. This is the second time this year that masses have gathered on the streets, and they’re the same people who posture themselves to be super concerned about saving lives and stopping the spread. Do I agree with both causes? of course, but im not going to deny the reality that this contributes heavily to the spread of the virus just because of that

we see here crystal clear that when the moment comes to make a real sacrifice and maybe not celebrate outside in large crowds to help stop the spread (we are reaching record levels of new cases per day) all of a sudden the virus doesn’t seem to be as threatening to them as they once claimed

im just calling it as it is. if republicans went out in big crowds in the street the media would go haywire; we would not hear the end of it (and rightfully so imo). and you can try and make the mask argument but we all know that’s bs when everyone is shoulder to shoulder on the street. same thing goes with being outside - both of these arguments look weak when the people aren’t social distancing to begin with, it just sounds like youre okay with it because it’s your team - hence why I say deep down this is mostly political performativity to many people
