yea kinda sick of it too. song still slaps
how do you set your 808s with a hertz range?
I just find the octave with the best range then eq and add distortion for texture
All I could think of when I read this thread was Drake's weak ass recreation of song cry. I hate that beat.
Kicks sound like that so you can hear it on smartphone speakers
Until they have speakers that can pick up lower frequencies better this sound is gonna stick around
timberland
kanye
neptunes
premier
alchemist
i could keep going, these guys all have distinct different styles. im not saying trap producers are lazy, but alot of them dont even do anything to these beats besides just toss the same old drums and 808s over a few notes or a sample they didnt even bother to chop up.
man said ‘timberland’
Honestly if you make your own melodies or you can chop samples really well i consider you talented. Most producer nowadays are talented but they are in the studio with a rapper 24/7 which is why they use premade loops nowadays. Trust me i don't think Thug would wait for wheezy all day to make a beat from scratch.
I don't mind trap beats but I feel like it's been getting stale for a while now.. it's time for artists to discover new production imo. We can't have another decade of the same s*** that sounds like something from 2013..
Plus I feel like it's lazy (I've produced beats here n there for fun) n I know that it's literally copy n paste for some of these producers especially with how basic these beats get..
No diss to 808s tho because at this point 10 years ago s*** was fresh..

Fair point
First of you seem to have no grasp of how frequency content works. They still got everything below 50. They’re just distorted so you hear more overtones. And some hits are at a higher register, which means the center frequency has shifted, not the entire spectrum of the sound.
Second go make your ideal song if it bothers you so much
Third this style is pretty lit to dance to
Fourth originally a lot of hip hop was jus drumbreaks & sometimes bass without much melody
Conclusion: You have neither a clue about the subject nor sufficient rhythm to enjoy this style.
Yeah, the center frequency is hitting in the kick frequency.
The fact I can hear the bass melody in my phone speakers means that the center frequency is well into the kick range (150hz-250)

op really said "808s (usually frequency of like 120-240Hz)"

I've felt like this for a while. Idk what style would replace it in the mainstream. It seems like most fans/producers are pretty complacent in the same typical formula now.
