My parents got their check today but didn't get the 500 child credit despite claiming me

I provide over half my support for the year and lived away a lil during college 🤔 maybe I am getting my own check after all

....plus an extra 600/wk for those on unemployment...

You only get $500 if the child is 17 or younger I believe.

Oh s***, college kids don’t get it. I thought it was if you were a college student for 2020 you can’t get it

And my mom just told me she claimed me since I’m 23 it’ll be the last year she’s able to do it.

My parents got 2400 today so no child credit despite claiming me

when I checked my status it said not available

If the IRS doesn’t have your direct deposit information then you’ll get a physical check next month. There’s a way to put in your info on their website but that s*** acting up right now

that 500 goes to the parents tho, my parents only got 1200x2

so I might be getting my own check? The IRS status thing says not available for me tho

depends, if you provided over half your support I think you can still get it

Right, your parents would get extra $500 on top of what they already got if they have children that are 17 of age or younger. Also, if you’re 24 and younger and your parents claimed you as dependent, you will not be getting the $1200 unfortunately.

it wasn't in the check my parents got today tho, that's why Im thinking i might be getting it after all because of the money I made and I lived away for bit of the year

If they didn't claim you last year, then maybe you'll get your own check?

If you claim a dependent 17 or under you’ll get $500 for that dependent

If you claim a dependent 18+ you get $0

And you yourself will get $0 because you were claimed by someone else

I f***ing hate my parents they convinced me to let them claim me and now they're not even getting money from me
