to any kanye stan, it’s clear as day that post 2016, something shifted in the musicality of his career, for better or for worst. to me the impact was evident; virgil wasn’t around.

you may not think he is the best dj, but his ear was super sonically tapped into not only the streets but all sounds universally. he knew the artist that were popping in every zip code, in every continent, in every genre. him, along with benji b and others influenced the holy grail kanye albums sonically in ways that aren’t appreciated enough. he will get credit for covers, but he contributed much more to the sound, the release and the era these than he gets credit; virgil was definitely the main dude that helped actualize ideas during mbdtf & yeezus era

don’t care to debate, just wanted to share how influential this man was to not only fashion, but music too 🌹

Curative gurus like him, Yams, Gunn, etc are a sorely missing part of the culture that we need to see in an era filled with amazing underground artists who deserve a lot of eyes and ears

    I'm glad you mentioned Gunn.

I think Pray For Haiti finally made the "hip hop world" realize just how great of a curator that man really is.

I need to see him executive produce an R&B album tbh.

The fact that Pray for Paris didn’t do that for people really blew me away

no it’s not because virgil wasn’t around it’s because he was busy building a multi billion dollar business and isn’t focused on music anymore

I’m sorry but after reading OP, you pinning Kanye’s downfall on Virgil not being in his fold is a lame ass thing to say.

His wife was robbed in her own apartment while he was on tour and he had far more going on in life that led him away from music.

This attempt to pin Kanye’s success as being crutched by Virgil’s presence is disrespectful to the relationship they both had, and especially reductive to the things Kanye had going on in his time.

during the fw3 era he'd always show love to lucki

    1. I’m not gonna debate you

    2. I said it the output was different, never said it was good or bad. Some people say ghost town top 5 ye song. some people think ye is a top 3 ye project. people love donda and jik. relax.

THEY ARE BOTH GOD LEVEL CREATIVES

Virgil’s contributions were much more than just album covers, dude was as tasteful and well versed musically as they come

i swear dudes on here just love to f***ing debate just to hear their own voice
