like gun to my head if i had to describe a standout vocal performance by him i would say that big long note in Leave The Door Open or the refrain of "Don't you saaaay.....goodbye" in the song from one of the Twilight soundtracks (lol)
Also going off what someone said earlier about him always belting s*** i feel like doing that for every part of a song kinda takes away the emotional potency of a pop song structure when everything is at like max intensity so there's no buildup or climactic part
like even i though I really like this song I linked still to this day and the way it sounds, I don't get much out of it emotionally, like it just doesn't feel that sincere

Apr 26, 2024haven't really interrogated this thought too much but i feel like the 10s poptimism wave was so pervasive that it filtered down to lesser known communities/people who in turn started to really exaggerate the quality of output of ppl like bruno mars, justin bieber etc
