Yeah from what I've seen the most common cases are debuts (or within the first few albums), and just artists seeking to reintroduce themselves either to create distance from their earlier work, or to distinguish and establish themselves on a new label which happened a lot back in the day. And then you got the classic "this is my most personal work yet, I feel like this is the album I've always wanted to make" type thing.
