all these publishers want their own fortnite. it's more profitable in the long term to maintain a game indefinitely than to take risks and invest in development to make new ones.

I understand they think that. But ultimately i feel like a lot of them are dumping more money failing than they would have had they just made a normal game.

Cause a lot of these Live Service games seems like theyre becoming more expensive than the AAA Single Player game.

Live Service has a high reward, but also high risk

i'd be much more interested if this was a single player game with a story. And it just happened to have a really fun multiplayer game attached to it.
    Like a GTAV, or a TLOU1

Why don't we get those games anymore? everything is a live service, battle pass game now

I feel you but GTA V is the super live service. Bordering MMO level. Space marine 2 is a recent game that describes what you’re looking for tho

Honestly I think a lot of the hate is from single player gamers that hate anything multiplayer at this point. People saying its DOA because its not revolutionary but the biggest MP out rn is an Overwatch clone. If a game is good then its good regardless of if its original

The difference with GTAV is that GTAV still has a full on Storymode.
You don't have to engage with Online Player if you don't want to.

I also imagine that when Rockstar made GTA Online they never fathomed that it would still be popping off 12 years later, and they would still be updating it. They just sorta accidently stumbled on an infinite bag.

GTA4 and RDR1 also had online multiplayers. I imagine they just thought GTAV's was gonna be the same deal. Just a fun game multiplayer mode attached. ppl play it for a few months, move on, and then they get to working on GTA6

    Adding to the post above,

Marathon has an interesting premise, art direction, and i'm sure the gameplay if fun.

Just said i would rather have it as a single player because I would love to engage with this world and lore without having to invest into yet another live service game with a battle pass and seasons

The industry just ain’t in that place anymore

We’re at the point now where if people see a normal, non live service multiplayer mode they’ll just ignore because “not enough content”. Sucks but that’s what the consumers chose unfortunately. I do think it’s completely cool for MP only games to exist as long as we’re getting great SP games

Oh yea I feel you on that. I wish Bungie was still doing compelling single player narratives, even if it’s something short like titanfall 2’s campaign

  • I need more of a reason to care about extractions, getting better loot isn’t enough. I was hoping bungie would solve this issue but i haven’t read anything that satisfies that issue for me.

Not 100% Sure, but i feel like the short if directed by Alberto Mielgo

He directed the Love, Sex, And Robot episode The Witness. As well as some work on Spider-Verse.

The visuals of this game in general look almost exactly like his work. Though i dont see anything about it on his wiki pages

    yep he directed it

  • Apr 12, 2025

great art direction and bungie knows how to make guns feel good, just sucks that it's an extraction shooter. i have zero interest in that genre

F***, it’s bungie, and it looks pretty cool, so I’ll buy it, but a little underwhelmed, besides the level design there’s nothing I haven’t seen before, the lil nu metal soundtrack told me all I needed to know about this game, will probably be fun to play for the first two weeks but won’t have much depth to it.

  • Man that gameplay reveal trailer did not move.

Looking like another consequence of Sony going deep into the GaaS type s***

Sony needs to put this game on red alert right now. This is going to launch DOA at this pace - previews all saying the same thing “meh” which is the kiss of death for live service games

Tarkov and Hunt will continue to dominate the genre

Which previews are saying that? Not being combative, genuinely curious because every preview I’ve seen says the game is pretty fun

Luckily, an alpha is coming soon because what they showed was not satisfying for many. Kinda squandered the hype a bit. People need to get their hands on this

Best case scenario, I think this creates a lane for “accessible” extraction shooters. Not going f2p on this could seriously backfire tho.

    Big facts

Wasting a cool ass aesthetic on premade characters is nuts

Loved destiny 1 and feel the same way. It doesn’t seem friendly to new players at all. Bungie s*** the bed there
