    Hot (or lukewarm?) take: I’m glad Burial fully embraced the EP format and never looked back.
    The EPs with the ten-minute tracks feel like mini-albums in their own right.
    This format allowed him to freely explore his sound without the expectations that come from a full-length project.

    I think my fave EP is Truant / Rough Sleeper. It was the first Burial release I anticipated as a proper Burial fan that year. The EP blew my mind in how each section sounded next-level and transitioned smoothly. Its parts sounded aggressive, mesmerizing and cinematic.
    Fave section is the dark air-heavy bass part of Truant that starts around the 4-minute mark.. Such immersive audio design

    you're right. those EPs he released after Untrue are some of his best work and a great format for more longform tracks

  • someone made a bootleg of the Baby Invasion soundtrack too, def a different sound for him with the thumping ravey techno like you just entered an underground club in the 90s
