    Corolla or Civic.

Take your pick, make sure you get a mechanic to look over it before buying.

    /thread

The Toyota's are easier to work on and maybe slightly more reliable than the honda but considering it's a honda it's negligible.

The civic is much more fun to drive and is nimble, 5th and 6the generation had double wishbone suspension and handled quite well.

A Corolla of that era will be a numb boring sloth to drive, but most people treat cars as point a to b device and get no excitement out of driving

Corollas go for nothing and OP isn't a gear head

    @op get a Corolla

I do, there's lots of fun cars within this budget. I actually might buy a prelude soon because of it's renowned handling.

    And they're in his budget

Most of the options you recommended I'm finding are '99 to pre 2004, those still reliable?

Nothing wrong with a car from an earlier year granted that it has been taken care of and isn't notorious for being unreliable

Check google for common problems with the car

Yes they are, even something from 1990 would be reliable as long as it was well maintained.

Arguably the 1990 - 2000 years of Japanese vehicles where more reliable than even our modern equivalents because they are simple very machines.

    Never heard of it.

I'm a frugal man by nature.

Paying for a newer car is pointless in my eyes, money is my motivation and my motivation is the money

Majority of my coworkers have car payments and with cars payments comes full coverage insurance.

Basically no matter what I will always be in a better financial position than them.

I'm saying it's a massive financial burden getting a car note.

If your credit is good a car note is...doable but not advised.

If your credit is bad, you will severely overpay.

I guarantee you that the downpayment alone can get you a clean used car

  • Dec 15, 2020

Idk why people want newer vehicles so bad. I can see why though, I see people pulling up in their whip and I'm like "damn must be nice".

Then again they have to work overtime if they want any slither of expendable income.
