What’s wrong with playing both sides? Man will joke about anything and offend anyone he wants. I respect that hard
because its not authentic. I do get that his whole thing is to poke fun at both sides, but I just see it as virtue signaling
There's no way to interpret this other than you think all people in 2003 were the same age you were in 2003
no just the niggas on this site who were probably born after 1990 pretending they knew what right wing was in 2003 🤣
but I concede that I’m a dumb ass for getting that mixed up with alt right
Why are we grouping in the trans community with White liberals?
By that same metric... Let me not even go there lol
Also just because he's been doing this for a long time doesn't absolve him of criticism,
in case u forgot Dave said during one of the specials that he got complaints for his trans jokes for years ( dating back to before the Netflix specials etc iirc)
Nowadays social media/technology makes it easier to spread opinions tho
comedians have always offended people, they're the performers who get heckled the most lol so they're bound to get backlash
Dave himself evidently does not gaf about what they think tho
So why do y'all care so much about people voicing their concerns about how their community is being handled by outsiders ?
I’m not saying there aren’t members of the trans community upset by his jokes but of the outrage I’ve seen, most of it is coming from white liberals.
And it’s not like every member of the trans community is against his jokes. You have articles being written by those defending it as free speech and arguing it would actually bring progress to their community people.com/podcasts/transgender-artists-share-differing-views-on-dave-chappelle-netflix-special
I forgot you were a f***ing moron
that guy is a top tier troll, i gotta give it to him
because its not authentic. I do get that his whole thing is to poke fun at both sides, but I just see it as virtue signaling
I see virtue signaling as playing one side because that is seen as “authentic” when you’re not just parroting mainstream media points to be seen as buddy buddy with industry heads, similar to Pete Davidson who did just that and is now buddies with Hollywood execs and making movies.
Schulz looks to make uncomfortable jokes which literally cause big companies to not want to work with him. He’s taking huge risks career wise to start things on his own terms so he can tell the jokes he wants to tell.
The heart plays in ways the mind can’t figure out
Reminds me
I’d love to hear Umar take on what Kanye on rn lol
I’d pay $100 to watch a film review on Wakanda Forever with dr umar and Kanye
no just the niggas on this site who were probably born after 1990 pretending they knew what right wing was in 2003 🤣

The alt right movement has traces back to late 2000s so it wasn’t gonna be around in its current form in 2003
I know Kendrick gave up his messiah complex but he don't belong in the same group as Kanye and Dave

In regards to Pete, going from SNL to making movies and having a career in Hollywood has been the pipeline for members of the cast since the 80s

Do you think SNL just employs whoever? He had to be making connections with industry heads prior to get a shot. And these days, you don’t do that if you’re not virtue signaling hard
Why would Dave Chappelle be anyone’s hero
He the goat to alotta ppl I wouldnt say hes my hero but im pretty sure theres alot of young standup comedians who say that he is
Reminds me
I’d love to hear Umar take on what Kanye on rn lol
I’m surprised he hasn’t said s*** yet
Dr. Umar x Ye x Candace round table talk would break the internet in the worst way possible
So is the Kendrick s*** all because he worked with yak?
Think cause he said the f word
Idk that’s the only thing I can think of
Kendrick selling out lowkey the biggest loss of this generation
I get it he got tired of being showed out by Drake, and not get any spins in the hood compared to Cole
But that don’t mean you switch up on some lame s*** 🤦🏽♂️
How did he sell out? Genuinely asking
Think cause he said the f word
Idk that’s the only thing I can think of
stupidest s*** ever. Kendrick used it as a storytelling tool in a song about learning to become more accepting of LGBT people
cancel every screenwriter and author who has written the f word in the last 5 years too then

He sold out more on DAMN than he did here and he got the hottest song of the year and an album that was getting streamed as much as other drake albums. The problem wasn’t selling out. Mr Morale is definitely him trying something new, it just didn’t really make for good replay value

it's a mixture of him working with kodak and that song, one of the common critiques is that kendrick is talking about abusers and degens in general on the album, yet he has a dude with a rape case on the album
but... there's also a strong religious theme on the album in which he's talking about his own personal sins and crimes and how they can be cleansed in the light of faith... (ala mother i sober, towards the end of the song he's essentially exorcising a demon
)
it's just shallow listening pretty much
seeing the outrage over auntie diaries opened my eyes and really exemplified to me how people listening to music has completely changed
niggas dont care about concepts and themes and all that other s*** anymore, it's just "vibes" and "aesthetic" - to see the d***riding for DAMN's "listen to it backwards" concept to the mr morale derision is mind boggling
