My family disowned me when I came out. This happens to most trans people. When I die my family would deadname and misgender me at my funeral. My friends and most trans peoples friends are more family than their biological one. So yeah, Her family probably had a rough time dealing with her transition and still thought of her as most trans parents think of them, as the gender they saw them grow up as. So im sure they took comfort in closer and that line of thinking. For a lot of us its easier to just accept that your parents and old friends will never come around so you just let all the misgendering and whatnot slide, but sometimes, a lot of times even, thats the s*** that makes me want to unalive more than anything because I dont care what strangers think but family.. anyways I have new friends and a partner that see me for who I am and I’m good. But I can’t stress enough how you shouldn’t downplay a trans persons friends opinion and instead decide trust the parents over that.

I have no idea what it’s like to feel the way you have felt. I’m genuinely sorry you’ve had to deal with all of this, from the bottom of my heart.

But it was her sisters I was speaking of. Daphne was very close with both of them, so I will always take their word over her so called “friends” who did the same things to her that your friends did to you.

That’s not how it works. When certain jokes and narratives are normalized then you are contributing the hateful rhetoric around certain topics. Also it’s young impressionable people watching always, which is why people (not just celebrities) should be mindful in what they say.
