life changing and I mean that without hyperbole there’s definitely a me before this album and a me after
out here chasing my dreams and trying to be the best me possible and that’s a fact because of this album
my favorite song is sweet/ i thought but one of my favorite aspects of this album is the alternating outros, because you’ll get safari on streaming but fishtail on physicals. both feel like an ending but at different times of day, where safari is just enjoying greatness during a really hot day using the wind to cool yourself down, versus fishtail feeling like a late night trip to nowhere reflecting on how you accomplished that greatness
Great post. S*** is inspiring af , I remember after my first listen I just wanted to immediately go accomplish everything I've wanted to do
Also I'm glad you reminded me about Fishtail, I need to add that song to the end of the album. For some reason I keep forgetting about the bonus track because I listen on streaming. Amazing song
an amazing album by one of my favourite artists
i wonder what his next release is gonna sound like
i usually skip wilshire cuz i think the whole idea of the song is cringe, but i was doin a front to back listen of cmiygl a couple days back and he actually handled the situation pretty well from his perspective. like it's weird to make a album about stealing your friends underage girlfriend or whatever, but the way tyler tells it seems like a actually reasonable explanation of him meeting his friends gf and the two of them starting to catch feelings for each other but then breaking it off because it was wrong.
Sweet / I Thought You Wanted To Dance
When the beat switch to I thought you wanted to Dance hits its pure f***ing ecstasy then those horns
I think the album is just okay outside of a few tracks, it’s has low replay value for me I tried relistening to it a few months and still felt the same. Sadly something about it just doesn’t click or stay with me. Glad so many people love it it though Tyler deserves his flowers. Super interested in what comes next for him.
Top tracks: Sweet/ I Thought You Wanted to Dance, RISE, Wusyaname, Hot Wind Blows, Manifesto and Lumberjack
unfortunately a one listen classic
Yet it's the only rap album from last year that also went number 1 this year....
Sweet/I Thought You Wanted to Dance is one of the best songs this decade so far. Album is still a 9/10 for me and has great replay value. I got it as my 2nd best Tyler album
Whatever your s*** is, man, do it
Whatever bring you that immense joy, do that, that's your luxury
The greatest thing that ever happened to me was
Bein' damn near twenty and leavin' Los Angeles for the first time
I got out my bubble, my eyes just wide
My passport is the most valuable—
Sweet/I Thought You Wanted to Dance is one of the best songs this decade so far. Album is still a 9/10 for me and has great replay value. I got it as my 2nd best Tyler album
So good
