American strategy of just pumping fascists with money and weapons so they keep control over a certain region has never been named. Or I'm not aware of it. There should be a name.

That book is about something else. America strategy post ww2(?) is way more crude. This specific hands-off approach to controlling parts of the world I haven't heard anyone describe precisely. It is pretty odd I think.

that's because the american elite are actually sincerely and legitimately re---tar--ded

I think the actual word youre looking for is neocolonialism

They give the impression like they are just there to do their job and dont really care about it more deeply. It's like a part-time clerk who's not concerned if something breaks after he's off his shift.

i think the afghanistan situation was a great example of modern american foreign policy
have something which under some circumstances may be somewhat laudable (pulling military out/ending occupation) but in reality contextually it's because of historical wrongdoing (being there to begin with) then do it horrendously wrong (civilian displacement and messy retreat) and afterwards run a weird campaign focusing only on social issues (women's and LGBT rights in Afghanistan, primarily championed by white women in the state dept) followed by memoryholing it (blackout the news and stop talking or referencing it) and then nothing actually happens after (the taliban just kind of becomes another unimpressive state)
No
well then I dont really get what youre saying. there's nothing particularly interesting about the use of fascist paramilitary proxies, it was mainly a shift in policy following the military failure of the Vietnamese occupation. american ruling class is even less inclined to use their own troops after the failure of afghanistan.
Americans politics are backwards, and the American people are grossly mislead and misinformed. Even the ones who keep up with current events. The real power is with economic and militaristic leaders of the country. But, they been in bed together so long they moved in with each other. The real political change comes from your local elections and depending on where you are even those are corrupt.
Buy land, plant some fruits and vegetables, get a girl, get a car, get a gun and vibe out until this s*** goes south. Then hold out until the rednecks kill you in post apocalyptic shootout.
Yeah I'm a proud marxist-leninist-maoist-walzist

that shift of policy is pretty significant but I don't see it mentioned

Do you know if they still have some oversight over Afghanistan?

i'm sure the state dept still "monitors" afghanistan - and i think we actually are technically still sending a lot of aid to the taliban controlled state - but we don't actually do anything there; I think even NGOs are suspended.

NGO suspended has a nice ring to it

I can see a lot of millennial/zoomer socialists getting on their cowboy s*** in a few decades

I'm sure Chomsky or Parenti or one of those "post-academic" types have written about it. But yeah, the use of selective service and direct military occupation backfired on the American ruling class -- coupled with racial unrest at home and the continued successes of decolonization in places like Africa new strategies were needed. Carter was at the forefront of this with his backing of fascist paramilitary groups in Indonesia and Chile and Reagan carried on his policies more violently.
