Idk if any of yall are old enough to remember Election Night coverage in 2008, but I do. I was 17 and just starting to really get into politics, so I was glued to the coverage.

The one thing that has always stayed in my memory from that night (and then repeated and amplified in 2012) is how pundits all said this was the end of the GOP. How the Dem coalition was impossible for the GOP to overcome, because it was diverse, and America was getting less white.

It felt like there was just no chance the GOP could win a future presidential election. And then the GOP is completely transformed into MAGA in 2015 when an outsider infiltrated their party.

Not to say I know how it will change (could be good or bad), but my expectation is that something similar is going to happen in the DNC in 2028. Some sort of outsider is going to come in and completely flip things on their head. I would like to be optimistic and believe that it could be a progressive Bernie like figure, but my guess is that it will just mirror Trump (with like a Mark Cuban type figure) and be equally bad. Fulfilling the prophecy of social media culture destroying our society.

I remember when the first round of shutdowns occured the restaurant that I worked at shut down for exactly 2 days and then me and a couple of others got called back to do to go orders, Uber Eats, Door dash, etc. If we declined then we'd be denied unemployment benefits, so I didn't really have a choice. All employees of the restaurant could come by once a day and take a free meal home. Every single day, every single employee would gloat about how much more money they were making on unemployment than they were working. I was happy for them, but it sucked hearing it all day every day while I was still slaving away in that hot ass kitchen.
