They're f***ing this up badly.

The optics of dropping out and being unable to endorse your own VP will politically damage Kamala and cause unnecessary stirs among groups of voters. Then to head straight to an open contest would be even worse and cement how undemocratic DNC has been

I've been against Biden for longer than he's been in office, but if they don't actually have an immediate plan, him staying is the best choice. Are these party heads planning to just forgo campaign trail events and ads with no nominee or while they argue over who succeeds?

They're damaging and maneuvering against their own incumbent while not presenting a convincing path forward

Van Jones said on CNN the other day that Kamala doesn’t want to risk Trump winning either. He suggested that if the polls show she might lose to Trump, it'd be best for the country if she stepped aside for another candidate with better odds.

Van’s pretty much a mouthpiece for the Democratic establishment, so this probably isn’t just his own idea but something that’s floating among the Dems.

I wouldn’t say this is at all certain, and anyway you look at it, she’s by far got the best odds of anyone if Biden drops out imo

1) Biden can just give it to her himself — he he endorses her, that’s pretty much it

2) if it’s an open convention she would still be able to compete and would have a huge amount of support

3) if it’s an open convention it would be difficult for someone else to gather enough support in such a short time span that could outweigh hers (only possible exception I could think of would be Michelle Obama, and she’s never indicated that she wants it)

If Kamala isn’t the nominee all the Biden campaign money goes away.

It will be a monumental task to run a campaign starting with no funds less than 4 months from Election Day.

If the dem establishment is actually concerned about beating Trump (and not just swapping out Biden to help their chances down ballot), Kamala is the best choice. Even with her many flaws as a candidate.

I personally don’t care who it is as long as it’s not Biden, but reports are signaling that the same top Dems pushing Biden out are going to push Kamala out
