    My advice, get you some experience in IT while you're in school. Would suck ass to graduate and then get hit with "We see you got your degree, but you need at least 2yrs+ experience for this entry level position"

    I'm coming up on my 2yrs, and graduating a few months after.

    That roadmap is good but use this in conjunction with that.

    Figure out what you want to do, get internships in school and job hop.

    Edit: Some more info;

    idk where you live at but location is pretty important. Some areas have caveats, like CA is a great place for employment but it is awful for entry level employment. I know more than one person who went to NV to start their career before moving back to CA.

    You'll probably work helpdesk as your first job no matter what you want to do. It's nicknamed "helldesk" but it's not typically all bad and it'll probably pay better than like 90% of service industry work depending on where you live, but yeah you don't want to work there for more than 2-3 years. Still a good experience and I recommend it to anyone who wants to start in IT.

    I would say you don't need a four-year degree when starting out. It's really only essential if you want to:

    • get to a management level
    • work in cybersecurity
    • want to skip helpdesk.

    I'm currently in my last year, and I do recommend getting your degree, but if I weren't having my tuition paid for I probably would've gone and gotten a job first.
