Most likely, yeah. It’s a very debilitating disorder that will typically disrupt normal life.

    oooh makes sense

You mean before diagnosis or in general? They can do both. After diagnosis they are sure about it, aware of it. They might change their believe in a manic phase as in believing that it was a misdiagnosis, but after than that, they know. Before diagnosis I think some will be able to tell when hearing about the symptoms but regularly they will get to know it in a depressive episode or after they had to see a doctor because of the outrage of a manic episode

    they know they’re bipolar

when you’re happy you know you’re happy
when you’re depressed you know you’re depressed

you just feel the feeling, it’s the same with them. the only thing is that it’s more intense and swings with them.

when they’re in a manic or depressive state all they just feel the feeling, and to them it’s the only way they’ve ever felt for that moment, and it feels like they’re always gonna feel that way.

    ^ so that’s different

  • They realize it later on

I have a buddy who is bipolar and will spazzz out and hours later will apologize and say he wasn't himself

    tonight.

  • Yup. I'm bipolar and I know I'm bipolar. This 💩 started when I turned 18 years old.

  • Apr 12, 2021

After quiet reflection probably. But most likely not in the moment

  • Apr 12, 2021

probably not my grandma didn’t know until her 50s

    Yess

  • Apr 12, 2021

Yes but bipolar isn’t what most people think it is. It isn’t constant mood swings, its intense cycles of depression and mania, each stage typically lasts for months.

Some can. It's hard because when you go into an episode you actually lose insight.
