he’s influential in the sense that he laid the foundation for a lot of modern hip hop but his personal influence is itself an amalgamation of ideas ripped from other places. yeezus is a masterpiece but the sounds of that album had been gestating in club music before kanye ever used them himself. most influential thing about him as an artist is his vulnerability in a genre often loaded with posturing.
