this is what i always say when it comes to this topic. the people who CAN freestyle and go off the top are the people who spent an uncountable amount of hours penning verse after verse to the point where they don't have to physically write a lyric.

It's not like we know how every studio session he's had since then has gone. It's very likely he's actually made dozens of songs without writing out lyrics but it's been years now. It's also possible he writes things out, memorizes them, comes to the studio and lays down the verses. No one really knows the whole truth but him. Even people saying they've seen him do it were probably in only 1 or 2 studio sessions.
