You just push ur fingers together really hard and slide them off your thumb. It's the impact of your pointer/middle finger hitting your palm after it slides off your thumb that makes the snap noise.

I remember I used to struggle doing it to the point it was frustrating then some random day I found out I could do it perfectly, in like 7th grade I think

No it's just preference. I can do with both (not at the same time) but I get a much better snap with my middle finger on my dominant hand.

You can do it with any finger tbh

I hit my head one night, went to the hospital, and while I was waiting there I tried to snap my fingers and it just worked lol

push ur middle finger and thumb together and then slide ur middle finger down towards your palm and the noise is the snap
