They aren’t “only” black, but I think it’s foolish to alienate a group that is one of the growing ‘races’ in this country. Don’t we constantly see these studies of “white will be a minority in the US because of mixed by 2050” or some s*** like that? Exactly. Mixed people face different struggles from 100% black people. They aren’t nearly as privileged as white people tho, which is why they should be classified as “mixed,” their own group separate from both blacks and whites because that’s what they are.

It’s not invalidating their blackness, it’s simply acknowledging the undeniable fact that they have just as much whiteness as they do blackness. Many hispanics aren’t purely native or European, they are a mixture, so they are given their own denomination and treated as a separate group from both natives and Europeans. Why can’t mixed people be called mixed?
