Yes. I’m not just saying this tho it’s just what I a***yzed from his interviews around the time SMF dropped and people in his circle talking.

He did TI podcast in 2019 and told TI “That wasn’t the real album I’m bout to play u some s*** off the real album”

His engineer said he’s telling stories on Punk that he never told anyone before. Thug also said he thought most the songs on SMF simple and just fun and punk was supposed to be the serious follow up.

But when Hot and the London become top 10 songs. And bad bad bad is a semi hit u have to work that album longer. And then outwest went viral a few months later so yea I think punk was done but the success + pandemic changed plans.

Wow. So if I understand correctly then SMF was just all the poppier s*** from the punk sessions.

Also punk sounds like the equivalent to what we were supposed to get with HyTunes

Why do you believe this

Cuz he is impulsive and always makes last minute changes to things. I don’t believe he has ever had a project just done and ready to put out. There is always a last minute element to it. It’s part of what makes the music so special.

I wouldn’t call SMF poppy but yes. He said SMF is the music he knew people wanted. Punk is the music he wants to make.
