CRJ manages to impart a level of frankness and honesty into her music which Taylor doesn't match, either because she's not trying to or she can't. Swift writes as an actress performs: the music tells a story, but it's not her story, and as time and albums wear on, this feels more and more opaque. CRJ, on the other hand, still manages to maintain a believable facade; whether this will change with time and further albums is quite beside the point right now.
