This whole Trippie 'biting' Carti thing has reminded me to make this thread

First of all, I'm 95% sure that's Carti in the snippet and Trippie is trolling.

Second of all, Carti stole his whole new baby sound from Keed.

As we all know, Carti has this baby voice that he initially developed on Die Lit. Then, at some point in the late summer or fall of 2018, it seems clear to me that Carti was put on to / introduced to Keed. Keep in mind this time period was the peak of Carti's obsession with Thug/YSL and the whole "slatt" movement (this is when 'slatt' entered the vocabulary of all the ultra cringe teenagers that it went on to become associated with on the internet... aka Carti's fanbase). This was the exact same time period that Thug introduced the world to Keed on Slime Language, and was very heavily promoting him as his true son and YSL's next superstar.

A few months later, Carti's new sound arrived with snippets like Molly and Kid Cudi. It was clearly still a baby voice, but also distinctly different. It is higher pitched, with voice cracks and overall a much more 'whiney' sound. This is arguably the core aspect of the sound that Carti has now been riding for the past year and a half, and what most of us are presuming WLR will sound like. It is also the sound that helped Carti gain so much notoriety in the meme world, and it is ALSO the sound that I am seeing thousands of people come at Trippie's neck for "stealing from Carti" (if it is Trippie in that snippet, then yes he's clearly biting carti, but the point is that Carti bit this sound too)

I have been saying this online ever since the very first time I heard the Molly snippet, and without fail, Carti stans have relentlessly come at my neck telling me I have no idea what I'm talking about and that Carti could never be influenced by someone like Keed.

tbh there's been some really solid leaks out of this era, but still super underwhelming to me. i just don't get the appeal of him doing the exact same s*** for literally every single track. his old s*** wasn't lyrical by any mean but i miss when he used to at least say complete thoughts lmao

Most definitely. I would say Keed's whole sound comes from him trying to imitate 1017 era Thug (im sure some Keed heads will come at me saying this isnt true, but definitely sounds like it imo), but in doing so he has for sure developed a sound that is distinctly different from Thug's (although clearly derived from it)

I guess u could argue Carti is also just trying to imitate that Thug sound, but all the timing of it leads me to believe he was specifically influenced by Keed with this
