I agree with you that punk's whole thing was that it doesn't require talent but that's where the similarities end for me
His branding has evolved though, he experimented with that, he even looks different than he did in the beginning of his career so I'm just confused why the music hasn't evolved to keep up, bc clearly it would still sell as long as the image is still there
if you ask me, carti just doesn't have the musical creativity/vision to fit that image tbh. he makes good music for those who are fans, but folk put him on a pedestal way beyond his scope. he just covers it up with that branding.
he's not a Andre, Kanye, Kendrick, etc., there's nothing really that stands out. that's just me tho.
This is the case for many
I think it’s nice to have artists go all the way in on an aesthetic cause it makes it feel like their careers have different eras. But you’re also right about the music not reflecting the image, Carti walking around looking like a bisexual vampire hunter but @ MEH had a slice of life anime instrumental
I don’t really care tho as long as the music is fire, and his fits are hard
Punk doesn't require talent lyrically or vocally (Richard Hell's voice sounds like hell, the Ramones were never really saying s***) but that's the only similarity I can see musically
carti stole his whole aesthetic from 80's punk rock bands
the guy is a fraud. he genuinely thinks he is some innovative god in the genre.

Ok this makes sense

wouldn't say that at all
brother..... where
RIP for example
On the surface it sounds like he’s just shouting ad-libs over a Pierre beat (like on every other song)
But it has certain repetition to it that gives the song a punk feeling. Like it’s not heavily influenced by punk but it’s meant to give you that same feeling of aggression and energy that you get from listening to actual punk music. The heavy bass, the aggressive lyrics, and saying the same s*** over n over again.
wouldn't say that at all
You think Carti could make a good punk sounding album?
I feel like he has it in him but for some reason doesn't want to even though everything else he des is "punk" or punk adjacent
wouldn't say that at all
that's imo. I'm not big into Carti so I could be missing something, but that's what I've interpreted throughout his career

She suck on my d*** like a tick

I don't hear it at all my guy
Similarities:
-you barely understand what either are saying
-instruments are dominating the track
-aggressive and high energy vocals
It’s like a trap song with a punk rock-like formula
