It’s not personal it’s just music. With all due respect. I listened to the album. I personally know folks who worked on it. Kendrick obviously talented. But GNX sounds nothing like NLU. It’s just funny. I bet all them young new post NLU Kendrick fans who don’t even like rap rushed to listen expecting a bunch of NLUs. They will pretend like they like it to fit in but deep down they just wanna dance to pop rap bops like Not Like Us and make fun of someone. That’s all they want from Kendrick. That is who he is now. A hip hop artist best known for clowning and tearing down other people. That’s how casuals will remember him. It’s my feeling that those same fans he earned when he dropped Not Like Us don’t want this sort of LP from K Dot. it’s funny how these artist don’t commit. K Dot veering from the NLU sound and redirecting towards GNX is a step backwards for all those new fans he gained and kind of defeats the purpose of putting songs like NLU out in the first place. If you was gonna make GNX did you really need NLU? Your fans from the Mr Morale era would have still loved GNX for what it is and you wouldn’t have an asterisk on your career…

    Glad ain’t no Taylor track

  • Artists should never chase casuals. That's most of these pop stars come and go as soon as their clout dried up
Heck, they shouldn't even chase the wishes of their fans

Create your own identity. Only sustainable way to build a loyal fanbase.

  • I haven’t listen to it yet but I think I can speak for most non casual fans that I was NOT looking for not like us: the album

    OP why do you care?
