We’ve been so spoiled with movies this year that I might have to do like a top 30 or something fr.
We got it all from character studies like this to blockbusters and everything in between.
2022 is so fire film wise
You think so? I feel like a lot of movies I was really hyped for kinda been a little let down?
Do you have a rough list of ya top movies so far?
tied with decision to leave as my film of the year so far
Both Fire movies huh?
saw this last night. let's talk turkey
Tell me ya review bro you know I respect ya opinion
Ok so I like this movie. First, Cate Blanchett really does disappear into the role of Lydia Tar, from the very start, you see that she has completely embodied this (fictional, might I add) character. it's a master class in acting for sure.
Ok on to the story. This movie is pretty long, I wasn't bothered so much by the length but I will say this movie takes it time getting started.
The movie starts with the credits which is.. okay very pretentious but pretty bold. Then after 6-8 minutes of credits, we get a 9 minute interview scene to start, then a 10 minute lunch scene, then a 10-12 minute long-take in a lecture (which is really great).
These are the scenes we get to START the movie, to bring you into the world of Lydia TÁR. but really it's just a whole lot mfs talking about s***. Once we realize what the story is about tho, it becomes a lot more engaging.
It's a character study moreso than anything else and I can appreciate that.
I liked, didn't love, this movie. Solid filmmaking. There's no score which is not to say there's no music, this film is about a conductor of course. There just wasn't that much for me to latch on to emotionally speaking. Will definitely rewatch tho.

Damn 6 minutes of ending credits to start the film followed by the long interview. Interesting choice.

black screen, ending credits... really interesting choice there

I sort of like the credits thing. It’s like, the director is saying hold the f*** up, this is a show. Imma lay this out with the buildup and anticipation it deserves.

Curious to know if it grows on you. This is really a second watch type of film.

Kinda reminds me of how Vice had end credits in the middle of the movie as a joke

I kind of saw it as "let's get all the unimportant s*** out the way first so I can give you the full unfiltered experienced start to finish"
