My whole post, I believe, hinted at the critiquing the industry but also the artists who may be willful participants in this + the consumers who it caters too
I don't believe that it's an isolated issue of just artists as the industry is essentially the providers of content/service (producers, executives, artists...) and their consumers (fans, casuals etc).

I don't think that's an very accurate description of the industry..and the lengths some artists will go too to enter/remain in it...but okay.
